Does it remove all symbols or just emoji?
Everything Unicode classes as pictographic: faces, hands (with their skin tones), flags, keycaps (1️⃣ becomes 1), and symbols like ♥, ☀, ✔, ©, ® and ™. Letters, digits, punctuation, arrows (→), ✓ and ★ stay.
Will spacing be affected?
It's tidied for you: double spaces left where an emoji was are collapsed into one, and spaces at the end of lines are removed.
