How the comparison works
The two texts are compared line by line and the longest run of lines they have in common is kept; everything else is marked as removed (red, −) or added (green, +), in the order it appears. A changed line therefore shows up as one removed line followed by one added line. A count at the top tells you how many lines were added and removed, or that the texts are identical.
Invisible differences
A line that looks the same but is marked as changed usually differs in whitespace: a trailing space, a tab instead of spaces, or a non-breaking space pasted from a web page or Word. Run both texts through Text Cleaner first if you only care about the words.
